Gold / دهب

“The Prophet once saw a gold ring on a man’s hand. He immediately took it from him and threw it down saying, “Does a person pick up a piece of burning coal and hold it in his hand?””

According to Islamic doctrines, the use of gold for men has been banned. In general, any advised subject in Islam is useful for the body, and what is definitely forbidden for a man is definitely harmful for him. In her Gold series, Gaafar explores the relationship between sin (haram) and gender, and the intrinsic roots haram holds within the feminine body. Gaafar also rejoices in the haram of her own gendered, fat, hairy body, painting in gold tones so revered in the "First World".
